Great hike! Caution at least on my visit there were extreme winds that can cause you to loose valance.

Wonderful hike and incredible waterfall. It’s tough in places and not recommended for those with a fear of heights, you will be walking on the edge of the gorge in places. There are a number of other waterfalls falling into the same gorge. Great cave that can be explored even if you don’t want to do the whole hike up and over the waterfall. Recommend you stay to the right at the beginning of the trail from the car park so you actually get to see the waterfall as it’s not visible if you go up the left side. A word of warning, when we visited in October, the log at the bottom of the gorge was missing so we waded over, the water was very cold but it was worth it. The hike up is challenging in places and you will have to use the ropes that are placed on the rocks in stage to help you get up. The view of the waterfall is breathtaking and there is even a little viewing area with seat. To cross over the top of the waterfall can be done by again wading over or there is a Ford about 250m from the waterfall. Once over follow the handy wooden post signs back to the car park stating 3km, DONOT use the signed route of 3.2km as it has eroded away. The track back to the car park is marked by posts so just following them down. Don’t forget to look back and see if you can spot the glacier in the distance! The journey down, you will pass lava flows and another waterfall. Watch your footing as it’s loose stones in places.

Beautiful trail but difficult. Tons of rocks to scramble over and had to watch your feet most of the time to avoid rolling an ankle. Quite a climb. The waterfall was gorgeous. There’s a river crossing at the top where you’ll get wet. Would have been nice to have a log or some large well placed rocks to get across. On the way down, it was very windy because there was no shelter at all. We tried to take a second trail that was marked to be more rocky but seemed more sheltered. Yeah, it disappeared into nothing a while in and we had to climb back up to the other trail. Stay on the obvious trail. Overall, would still recommend.

Not the easiest to get to, but well worth it. If you do the whole loop be prepared to cross the river at the top of the falls. The water is cold and the flat rocks are very slippery.

Great hike not too far from paved roads with excellent views of waterfall. Has multiple trails, the main one can be quite slippery when wet but generally has handholds in the most difficult sections.
