The southern coast of Icelands includes some must-do highlights that most are well worth a stop despite becoming very crowded with tourists during the busiest months. Most visitors start by spending a day at the Golden Circle, exploring the Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir (geysers) and Þingvellir National Park. Further along the coast you will discover black sand beaches, the famous Eyjafjallajökull Volcano, many more waterfalls, glaciers and everything in between. If you make it all the way to the south-east corner (highly recommended), you’ll encounter Vatnajökull Glacier National Park and it’s famous glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón. And if you happen to be in Iceland in August you should check out the annual firework show at Jökulsárlón and experience a magnificent show of fire and ice.
