Budapest, Kós Károly stny., 1146 Hungary
Quiet and tranquil, yet right in the heart of the city. The lake was being cleaned when we were there showing their level of care for the park as it looked like a very deep clean. Near to this park is the Szechenyi thermal baths which really are worthy of a visit, the waters are clear and hot. There is a little museum at the main house, and also coffee shop. It is quite near to the heroes square and it's mightily impressive monument, which is equally worth a stop.
It is one of the nicest parts of Budapest, both adored by the residents and tourists. There is a nice artificial lake with a small castle. Heroes square and two large museums are here, just as the zoo, Szechenyi bath, and the Grand Circus. There are a few fancy restaurants and street food joints to choose from. In the summer, there are a few hip open air pubs open.
A real surprise. We had been told that the park was very beautiful, but there was so much more to it. The castle by the lake was spectacular as was the museum next to it. Before even getting into the park, you had to go through the Heroes Square with its stunning bronze statues a d the near art gallery. All in all we were glad we visited. I would highly recommend it. If you have kids, there is also a boating lake and a huge wooded park.
A silent, calm and beautiful place to visit. The castle and the lake are magnificent. In the summertime, a good place to escape to read a book, have a picnic, etc. In the wintertime, the same lake is an ice skating rink which is so unique. Highly recommended.
Love it to bits, the place is the main open park In Budapest. Tons of landmarks and points of interest. This is a must. Nice environment, pretty buildings and tons of things to do. So sad the govt tries to remove much of the green area to enclose in concrete...
