It feels harsh to give such an ancient and interesting place a low score, but if I was to recommend an archaeological visit in Athens, this would never be my first thought. Without a guide, this is could seem just like a park full of rocks. Like many Greek ancient sites, there is a museum attached which is very good, if you've got the energy to read a lot of very dry annotations with very little context given. There are some great sculptures and interesting finds to see and there are a few plaques dotted around the site, but without a tour or reading a good guidebook beforehand, you might be underwhelmed or even confused.

Literally time travel. To fully understand the phenomenon of this place you have to read a panels with description of each monument. I was surprised by interesting museum inside one of the buildings in Keramejkos. A lot of turtles are freely walking there. Watch your steps.

For me, personally, that was the most interesting of the archeological sites in Athens. Loved its museum. Finally, we could get real insights into the ancient Greek's lives.

A not so big but very impressive archaeological site. It is the only place you can see the ancient wall of Athens. There were two gates one for the everyday usage and the other one was the Sacred Gate. In this area there was the largest cemetery of Athens and nowadays you can see many monuments on the top of the graves of some important persons. You will definitely enjoy the visit of this place. A tour guide is highly recommended.

A historic place without too many visitors. People can view the site slowly without disturbing.
