This is a fantastic ancient historical site. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the temple of Apollo was under repair and had scaffolding all around the columns. The theater was in incredibly fantastic shape and the stadium was also remarkably well preserved. The walk there from there coming from the west was stunning, views of the ocean from above. A must see.
I mean it's an amazing place and we went for sunrise which was beautiful & empty, but there was scaffolding on the acropolis at the time so didn't get to see much of it. However the Olympic stadium at the same sight was great to run around!
Nice acropolis on the mountain Smith.. Its free and looks very good. They have a small museum and also public toilets and automatic machine with drinks.
We visited in late September 2019 and it was covered in scaffolding. Didn’t bother us though as it’s still amazing to see something so ancient still standing. Easy to get to in the car and free parking is just across the road so definitely should be ticked off the list if you’re in Rhodes. Not as spectacular as the one in Lindos but still worth the trip. Tips: no facilities nearby so pee before you visit & carry water.
Be sure to have picked up a Blue Guide and read the brief section on the Acropolis before you visit, as it sounds like signage, which there was very little of in 1995 when was here, is still an issue. I was lucky enough to have stayed nearby for a few weeks back then so it was very close and I came every day to run or walk and escape the fighting of the family I was staying with (lovely people but all families fight as the kids enter adulthood---no?).
