Route du Grau du Roi, 30220 Aigues-Mortes, France
Unfriendly, ignorant and rude! We wanted to do a train tour. When I wanted to buy the tickets the lady at the counter ignored me. I asked a Shop assistant when the next train leaves - the lady at the ticket counter heard it and told her colleague (not me, her client!) without even turning around that the next train was about to leave. I should buy the ticket on the train. When we arrived at the train the driver asked us whether we had tickets and since this was not the case we had to wait for the next train. Then he left. So I went back to the ignorant lady at the ticket counter. Since she didn’t understand English I tried my best to explain in French what had happened. She just said she doesn’t understand and she also doesn’t know when the next train is leaving. Still can’t believe it... To the people working there: are you sure tourism is the right industry for you? Is this how you want to represent your country to foreign tourists? To people planing to go there: If you prefer being treated with respect: don’t visit this place.
We did the train ride tour. Beautiful views, very friendly driver and very interesting. I only wish that the information on the train was also in English. If you are going there and have a bike you’re in luck since you can bike wherever you want and stop for pictures wherever you want.
The trip on the little train was brilliant. Now I’ve read reviews by English people saying it was bad because there was no translation but I say embrace the opportunity to just listen to some French and appreciate the views which are spectacular! The driver of the train tells you stuff and is clearly passionate about salt! You stop to look around a little museum and another stop to climb a mound of salt for spectacular views! If anything it is worth it just for this. Saw flamingos and hummingbird moths and dragonflies flew alongside and through the train. If you have a big proper job camera, probably don’t even think about using this as you are rattling all over the place. Use your phone and save your big camera for the top of the salt mound.
Huge salt production center. Interesting for childrens and adults. Beautiful view of the ancient city walls. Explanations in French.
The park is very good, but I suggest a visit by bike. Train is too fast, French speaking only and it stops few times.
