Al Azaritah WA Ash Shatebi, Qism Bab Sharqi, Alexandria Governorate 21526, Egypt
Gorgeous 11 floor library in the historic town of Alexandria in Egypt. We walked outside and inside and it was amazing. Books are organized well here. Popular movies like The Mummy had scenes filmed here. Excellent research and books available here. We spent an hour part of our trip to Alexandria.
Huge library with great architecture. Bibliotheca Alexandrina is built on a magnificent site alongside Alexandria's ancient harbor in the historic center of the city. The very modern design of the building is very nice, and the service is excellent by the personnel; the tickets are not expensive. Recommendable absolutely.
A must visit attraction even if you're not a reader, many events take place throughout the year, and beautiful pictures can be taken in front of the magnificent building
The new Bibliotheca Alexandrina is held on the same site of the old one to commemorate the most famous library in the history. The idea of reviving the library was proposed in the late 1980s, when UNESCO invited to contribute to the revival of the library. The International Library Design Competition was awarded to the first prize for the Norwegian-based Snohetta Architectural Design Company. A planetarium and a scientific museum were built nearby.
A place of learning, a place of history. History that shows you how far humans have come in terms of technology, religion, architecture and much more. If you ever find yourself in Alexandria, do try and visit the library. Also the staffs are very friendly, Incase you get lost just ask them. Have fun.
