What to Expect

On the Split and Salona Cultural Heritage Day Tour, you will have the chance to explore two capitals, the modern day de-facto capital of Croatia’s coastal Dalmatian region, Split, and the ancient capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, Salona.

The first destination will be the city of Split. Being one of Croatia’s largest and most important cities, there is an overwhelming amount of things to explore and see. Luckily, there will be a tour-guide to direct you along the way. Virtually every major sight in the historical center of Split will be covered on the tour. Starting at the massive Diocletian’s Palace, then moving to locations such as St. Duje Cathedral, Peristil, the statue of Gregory of Nin, the Golden Gate, Vestibul, Riva, the Statue of Marko Marulic, and the city clock. This many sights to take in would leave anyone tired, but don't worry – there will be free time for lunch, shopping, and relaxation.

Once you have had time to rest, the tour will then continue to the ancient city of Salona, which is the largest sight of antiquity-era monuments and structures in Croatia, prompting many to informally refer to the location as Croatia’s Pompeii. This sight has many ancient structures and marvels to gaze at. Knowing that you are standing in the same location where once stood the capital of an ancient Roman Province can have quite the impact on someone.

While having a tour guide show you around Salona you will also be given free time to fully take in the wonders of the city.
