The tour starts with a morning departure from your accommodation in Zagreb. In the 24-km cave system, you will experience the subterranean spell and experience a unique ride on the underground train. The wonderful Murano-glass chandeliers hanging from the ceiling of Postojna Cave's Dance Hall make for a fairy-tale atmosphere. Just like the world above the surface, cave boasts towering mountains, murmuring rivers and vast subterranean halls!
Sightseeing, which includes a ride on the train and walking on demanding terrains, lasts an hour and a half. Each visit is accompanied by guides that provide visitors with more detailed insight into the beauty of the caves in Slovenian, Italian, English, or German.
After the Postojna Cave tour, we shall continue to the Predjama castle, one of the ten most fascinating castles in the world. The castle itself sits on a 123 m high cliff and is carved into the cave entrance. Whenever under siege, the castle was unconquerable as defenders would go in and out of the castle throughout many underground tunnels that connected with the outside world. The Slovenian version of Robin Hood – Erazmo Predjamski, lived in that castle. He was a knight that rebelled against the Royal forces.
After a short visit to the castle, we shall start our return journey, stopping at Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, on the way. Ljubljana is a medium-sized European city that managed to retain traces from all periods of its rich history. It is a place where eastern and western cultures join. Ljubljana offers you plenty of coffee shops and restaurants, so after a walking tour, you can relax with a drink or a meal. For a panoramic view of the city, there is a castle on the hill above the center.
