The peace agreements have transformed the country, entire towns and the lives of thousands of people. In this tour you will learn and understand the process of transformation that Algeciras, Huila, has lived after the ceasefire and see how hope, peace, and reconstruction are forged from peasant labor, demining, reconciliation, teamwork and the cooperation of different actors of the conflict for a better country.
Starting in Neiva at 7:00 am, you will be taken on a short trip to Algeciras with our guide who will put you in context about the history of Algeciras and the changes that are taking place. When you arrive, you will have a delicious traditional lunch and leave your bags at the hotel before continuing to the village of Las Morras, a beautiful mountainous place with incredible landscapes that abounds with agricultural products. There you will have a stop to know a coffee farm and learn about the coffee process; from sowing to drying. Then you will visit the beautiful fields of granadilla, gulupa, blackberry and tree tomato, and you can taste delicious fresh fruits freshly harvested from the plant. Here you will stop to enjoy an exquisite typical lunch while contemplating the majesty of the landscape.
You will descend to the village after having lunch to learn about the next stage of coffee; its preparation. Here at a café attended by an expert coffee grower and coffee connoisseur, you will learn about the different preparation methods and how to taste good coffee. This experience will make you aware of the many flavors and aromas present in a cup that reflect the conditions of Colombian soils and the careful processes of coffee growers. After this experience, you can go explore the town or relax at the hotel. To end the day, a delicious dinner from the region awaits you.
The next morning, you will be picked up at 8:00 am to take you to the base camp of the Campaña Colombiana Contra Minas for breakfast before learning about the complex demining process. Here you can not only learn about the different types of mines that have contaminated Colombian soil, but you will also witness a unique scenario of confluence and cooperation between victims, ex-soldiers of the army and the guerrillas. In addition, you can understand the cautious procedure required to demine an area and meet some of the heroes responsible for this risky work. Finally, you will be taken to collect your things to enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to Neiva.
