BA, 1, Tuneli, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina
This place provides another glimpse into the history of the Bosnian war. The tunnel was only 800 meters long, running under the airports runways, but it saved many lives by allowing supplies to come in without fear of death from snipers at this "pinch point" along the Serbian front line. Now, for security purposes, the majority of the tunnel is closed, but you can walk through a 25 meter section to experience what it was like. At a height of only 1.6m most people have to stoop. The museum shows good film footage of what it was like during the siege years with constant fire from the surrounding hills.
Interesting museum, but one thing can be somehow misleading: the tunnel is permanently closed for visitors. What we can experience is a replica that reflects it in terms of its height and width, but surely not the length (it's very short). We were expecting that the museum might actually offer the real thing, but nonetheless- it's definitely worth visiting.
Deeply interesting place to visit with a lot of history. Best to get yourself a tour guide. We used Funky tours Sarajevo, who were awesome!
I thought I can feel to walk through the tunnel...but unluckily they have closed the tunnel....only just a few metres are open for tourist. The rest of the history, you can see it in the exhibition room@by watching the short video. It is just a small place to visit.
A must visit place in Sarajevo. This place was the life tunnel during last war. You will be able to walk through the tunnel partially.
